Wipcool Condensate Pumps Explained

The purpose of a condensate pump on a split system is to remove the condensate (water) that is produced during the cooling process and pump it to a suitable drainage point, especially when gravity drainage is not possible.

Why It’s Needed:

When a split air conditioning system runs in cooling mode, moisture in the air condenses on the cold evaporator coil. This water needs to be drained away. In many installations, especially where the indoor unit is installed below or far from the drain line, gravity drainage alone won't work.

A condensate pump is used to:

  • Collect the water from the indoor unit’s drip tray.
  • Automatically pump it to a higher elevation or across a distance to reach a drain.
  • Prevent water damage or overflow issues from improperly drained condensate.

Common scenarios requiring a condensate pump:

  • Indoor unit installed in a basement or internal wall with no nearby gravity drain.
  • Long or complicated drain runs.
  • Commercial or multi-story buildings.

In short, the pump ensures safe and efficient removal of moisture, protecting both the AC system and the property.

·         Model Overview – Wipcool Condensate Pumps

Wipcool offers a wide range of condensate pump solutions tailored for various installation environments and air conditioning setups:

Compact and slim, these models are specifically designed to fit discreetly within wall cavities and ducting, making them ideal for space-restricted installations.

·         JAVP18 & JAVP32
Engineered for direct installation beneath wall-mounted A/C units, these models provide reliable condensate removal in a compact form factor.

·         JAVP180 to JAVP580
These high-capacity tank pumps feature a
1.8-litre reservoir, ideal for handling larger volumes of condensate in commercial and industrial settings.

·         JAVP120S & JAVP360S
Designed for supermarket environments, these specialized models are installed beneath freezer or refrigeration cabinets to efficiently manage defrost and condensate water.

·         Float-less Technology for Safer, Smarter Condensate Management

Traditional condensate pumps with float switches can pose a significant risk in air conditioning systems. Over time, dirt, dust, and fibres accumulate inside your A/C unit and are flushed into the pump. This debris can obstruct the float mechanism, leading to potential malfunctions — and even flooding inside your walls.

The Wipcool range of condensate pumps eliminates this risk by using float-less technology. Instead of relying on a mechanical float, Wipcool pumps detect liquid levels through a conductivity sensor. When the liquid bridges the electrodes, it sends a signal to activate or deactivate the pump. This smart, sensor-based system ensures greater reliability, fewer maintenance issues, and enhanced protection for your property.

Upgrade to Wipcool — and leave float failures behind.
